I have made three prints in this suite on the theme of Refugee. As a person of Irish cultural heritage I feel an empathy with people who for a range of reasons, have to flee their homeland and seek refuge. In the 1830's millions of people left Ireland to seek refuge in the UK and USA mainly. Hoping they would find good fortune - that was/is what it comes down to in the end i.e., as to whether you will find that home of your own to feel safe and secure. |
